I’m only going to say this once (and Mrs Dubai started me thinking on this) STOP MOANING ABOUT THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY IN THE UK!! She sums the situation up nicely in her post, here. Yes, summer has arrived in Dubai with a vengeance. There seems to be waters running in rivulets down the outside of my floor to ceiling windows, day and night. And the humidity level in my bedroom reads 65%. IN MY BEDROOM. What’s that all about?
In practical terms this means that many of my favourite (outdoor) bars and clubs are closed, as are restaurant terraces. Thank god for indoor wine and cheese evenings and my best friends all living in my building. Oh and of course that brisk breeze at the pool really does take the edge of things.
As a girl who like nothing more than wrestling on a bikini and lounging at the beach whenever I get a spare minute, I’m not going to complain about the heat. But the humidity can bore right off. If my hair gets any bigger Ivana Trump will be calling me for style tips.

Heat Watch
Another week where I've been deathly quiet on the blog front - mainly because, yet again, deathly busy at work. What's a girl to do? I'm actually typing this whilst working the weekend: eurgh. Although to be honest, I'm in one of those great moods that even working the weekend can't erase.
It's a beautiful day here in Dubai - like 360 days of the year it's clear blue skies, sunshine, and warming up very nicely. I have mixed feelings about his - on the one hand, I do love the heat, and nothing says the weekend like two days spent on the beach. But very soon it's going to be back to unbearable temperatures...constant clamminess, and our favourite outdoor venues closed for the best part of five months. Boo!
I'm not sure exactly how hot it is but I've developed a pretty good personal thermometer - I reckon it’s 34 plus today. My actual digital thermometer gave up the ghost a few weeks ago so I'll be sorting new batteries for it soon so that I can get back onto Temperature Watch. Yes, I know I'm sad....

It's Getting Hot in Here!

So, the end of my first full week in Dubai. One thing which had bothered me massively was the heat - and I have to say, it really hasn't been that bad. BUT I've found out that last week was a complete freak of weather and it was actually really cold!
So, I've been skipping about feeling smug wondering what all the fuss was about, and woke up today to feel like I was melting, at 9 am! Eevn the rooftop pool is hot, and it's windy as hell up there. Anyway, it was bound to catch up with me sooner or later.
I enter the world of work this Sunday (yes, Sunday is the new Monday don't you know) in a strange way it will be good to get into a routine and meet new people, I shall miss my afternoons by the pool though! My working day is (in theory) 9-6.30, and as it gets dark quite early here - 730 ish, that doesn't leave much time for pool visitis after work! Still, there's always the weekend....
